Donnarumma, ultimatum expires. New meeting with Raiola.
This summer’s soap opera continues. Yesterday the club was expecting an answer from Montecarlo but no such thing came. Now Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola wants a new meeting with Milan’s top officials.
AC Milan and Gigio Donnarumma have yet to find an agreement, his future seems now more mysterious than ever. Yesterday should have been the decisive day when Gianluigi Donnarumma was expected to transmit his decision regarding the contract renewal to the club but Milan’s executives and the red and black fans should have to wait a couple of days more to find out what will be the young goalkeeper’s decision. The rossoneri had set yesterday as the deadline to understand Gigio’s decision regarding the contract renewal but neither the player nor his entourage contacted the club. The ultimatum expired and AC Milan are not yet sure if they have a goalkeeper for next season or no.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, tension and embarrassment in Casa Milan increased with the hours passing with Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli expecting to get a definitive answer yesterday. In the evening Mirabelli and Mino Raiola had a phone call and organized a new meeting between the parties, expected to happen today or tomorrow.
Next hours will be crucial for the outcome of this negotiations that can’t seem to have an end. All Milan fans were hopping that today would be the day when Gigio committed his future to Milan. No renewal and all is postponed for a few hours hopping this will be the right moment for both parties to agree on a new contract. AC Milan have offer the 18 year old goalkeeper a five year contract of 4 million euros rising to 5 millions with performance related bonuses included. Apparently the key issue holding back Raiola and Donnarumma is the release clause they demand to be present in the new contract. Fassone and Mirabelli are not willing to satisfy such a request.
